"Effort & Courage
are not enough without Purpose & Direction."
President John F. Kennedy
Federal Civil Rights Legislation
The right of parents & children to associate is an "inalienable" right.
Equal access and participation is assumed.
Anyone finding this right challenged has the protection of a jury, and required proof
beyond a reasonable doubt.

Our
Goal
A
child has a right to be with their parents, a parent has a right to be with their child.
As one of our most important Civil rights
-- it should not depend on what State you live in or a
local law:
First steps: Introduction of the Family Right's Act into Congress,
Congressional Hearings into Family Law Reform.
Someone robbing a 6 pack of beer
from a convenience store is entitled to: representation by Counsel, strict rules of
evidence, and a Jury which must be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt. Don't you
think you deserve the same standard before you are separated for years?
Each state had the ability to establish
its own criminal code and procedures, but was still required to remain
within the U.S. Constitutions guarantees of: a presumption of innocence,
real proof, and the protection of a Jury. There has been an explosion in
well intentioned Family Law produced in each state, but without the firm
guidance of our Constitution. The words "best interest of the
child" have been used to justify any state action.
WE ARE NOT calling
for MORE FEDERAL INTERFERENCE, but less. The recognition of established
constitutional protections to protect families. We only ask the same principles used to protect
liberty, also protect the bond between parents and children (probably an even
more valued freedom):
It is time we recognize & protect our GREAT
Civil Right to be parents to our own children. There ought to be a "significant
barrier" the system has to cross before they can interfere with our
family life.What is the foundation
to justify such a strong statement,
read an essay on Family Rights.
We are not looking for MORE laws, but protection. That you and your
spouse are both considered Fit & Equal parents (equal in terms of
both physical and legal custody). If anyone (a spouse, relative, social
services) wishes to challenge that, you have:
1) The right to counsel.
2) The right to be presumed a fit parent, innocent, and deserving of an equal
relationship with your kids.
3) The right to protection of a criminal jury and a unaminous verdict. The "state" needs to prove you
were a demonstrated serious and intentional threat to your child's safety and that you acted with mal-intent towards your children.

Our
ApproachNon Violent Action
"I came to see for the first time that the Christian doctrine of love, operating
through the Gandhian method of nonviolence, is one of the most potent weapons available to
oppressed people in their struggle for freedom."(Martin Luther King)
| The key to our
success is a non-violent approach based on Non Violent Action.
Please follow the link and read about a very positive approach! We are
not loud, rude, or vindictive. We treat everyone with kindness and respect
-- especially people with whom we disagree (which includes the other parent, lawyers, and
other officials in the "system"). We have held up the
ideal that people willing to demonstrate: Faith, Love, and Personal Sacrifice
can be the means of effective social change. More specifically, that Parents can
promote Family Law reform by demonstrating:
1) Faith in a loving God,
2) Love for their children, former spouses, and other "brothers and
sisters", and
3) Willingness to make Personal Sacrifice,
NonViolent Action allows you to demonstrate
through "unambiguous physical action" the depth of your Faith and
belief in your "cause." It is a positive demonstration of love given
at sometimes tremendous personal cost.
We will all have
to answer these questions of implementation. But let's not
put the "cart before the horse". A child
has a right to be with their parents, the same way that a woman has a right to vote, and a
slave has the right to be free. In the past folks argued against
women voting, or freedom for slaves, by talking about the "dire consequences". | Membership in Kid's Right is
free, there are no annual dues, and we are not a non-profit organization (primarily
because we want to be free to pursue direct political/legal action when necessary)-- we do
accept donations.

sense", we welcome your help! Please contact us and join our mailing
list. We also need folks to help manage the web site and both to prepare and submit
material. If you have a computer you can use, you qualify -- we are happy to train you
with the skills involved to produce web pages. The web site is under development and we
are still getting organized. Our goals is to subdivide responsibility for different
sections of the site to sub-webmasters throughout the country. If you wish to help, again,
please contact us and join our mailing list.
