Good People,
This message contains some brief info on:
1. Plans for Father's Day.
2. Supreme Court Decision on Parent's Rights.
3. Help translating the site to other languages.
1. Plans for Father's Day
-------------------------
As we did for Mother's Day, we are trying to coordinate an
effort to get people to take action in support of our Civil
Right to be with our children. The web site is:
http://www.fd2k.com/
Please visit that site for more info. We would also like to have
an informal gathering that day. Kids-Right.Org has been
primarily an Internet based group. We have a lot of members, but
are spread throughout the country and the world! On Sunday,
June 18th we are going to try to have a "get together" at the
steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. 4 PM is the
time. Check the site above for more details.
Other groups have done more extensive planning, for some details
on a "march" scheduled for earlier in the day see:
http://www.fathersday2000.org/
2. Supreme Court Decision on Parent's Rights
-------------------------------------------------
Many of you may have heard some of the reports regarding this,
for a good summary article from the New York Times check:
http://www.kids-right.org/essays.htm
Some nice quotes from above:
"parents have a fundamental right to make decisions concerning
the care, custody and control of their children"
"So long as a parent adequately cares for his or her children
(i.e., is fit)," Justice O'Connor wrote, "there will normally be
no reason for the state to inject itself into the private realm
of the family to further question the ability of that parent to
make the best decisions concerning the rearing of that parent's
children."
Justice O'Connor said, "the Due Process Clause does not permit a
state to infringe on the fundamental right of parents to make
child-rearing decisions simply because a state judge believes a
'better' decision could be made."
Isn't all this just common sense? I'm sure many of us know what
it is like to have someone else "step in" and take control. The
Family Right's Act is our way to take the quotes above to the
next step -- and protect that valuable parent/child bond.

3. Help translating the site to other languages.
-----------------------------------------------
The problems we all face as parents are certainly not unique to
the United States. The recognition of our basic Human and Civil
Right to be with our children does not recognize borders.
If you are an International member of the group, we could use
your help in translating part of the site into your language.
At first we would like to just start with the Home Page, and
as people visit hopefully recruit more help.
